I offer two different types of massage; Swedish and Deep Tissue. They use different movements, motions and pressures to provide you with different benefits.

Swedish Massage

If you are looking for a relaxing experience with light to medium pressure, then a Swedish massage is the one for you. The main goal of this is to relax the body and mind and to promote well-being. This is done by massaging the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood going back to the heart.

Benefits include:

  • loosening tight muscles
  • relieving cramps, muscle spasms
  • decreasing muscle fatigue
  • loosening joints and improving range of motion
  • increasing muscle strength
  • calming the nervous system
  • stimulating blood circulation
  • firming up muscle and skin tone
  • relieving symptoms of disorders such as: asthma , arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic and acute painsyndromes, myofacial pain, headache , temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and athletic injuries
  • speeding up healing from injury and illness
  • improving lymphatic drainage of metabolic wastes

Deep Tissue Massage

If you are looking for firmer pressure to help with chronic aches, pains, stiffness and muscle tightness then a Deep Tissue massage is the one for you. I use firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Some strokes may feel similar to those used in Swedish massage but deep tissue uses a particular technique to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.

Deep tissue massage has been used for centuries for the therapeutic and health benefits.  If you have a specific problem area let me know before hand and I can focus on that area to help relieve any pain or tension.

Benefits include:

  • Can provide relief of a specific problem
  • Ease lower back pain
  • Help with achey shoulders
  • Loosen stiffness in the neck
  • Help with mobility
  • Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls)
  • Ease repetitive strain injury
  • Ease knots
  • Promote recovery and muscle growth

There are a few important things to remember after you’ve had a massage:

  • Rest and relax as much as possible
  • Drink plenty of water as this will help flush out any toxins released and reduce any side effects
  • Side effects aren’t common but could include headache, nausea, thirst, a sore throat, tiredness, break out in spots (temporarily) and aches and pains. These are usually minor and pass within 24 hours but can be avoided by doing the above.

Face and Scalp Massage:

Face and scalp massages are known to be extremely relaxing and healing, they can help to release the tension and stress of the day. This is because your scalp is covered in nerve endings and a massage focused on the scalp, sinuses, face and jaws can leave you feeling re-energized from head to toe.
